In Tekla Structures, steel profiles are displayed in a simplified manner, without rounding. This presentation method has existed for years and has not changed so far. Presumably, this simplification used to improve the program’s performance because the geometry was less complex. Nowadays, with the immense computational power of modern computers, I hope that in the future, the developers of Tekla will abandon this simplified display method. The current presentation mode is very inconvenient because it hinders precise positioning of bolts and the selection of plate chamfers. Beginner Tekla users have serious problems because of this. Few people know that you can temporarily enable an accurate representation of the element’s shape to check if the roundings interfere with other components. Of course, as is often the case with Tekla, such a function is hidden.
Show with exact lines
Select part and click with right mouse button, hold shift and click “Show with exact lines”. This is very usefull to check bolt to roundings distance.
